I was just listening to a bit of your video cast and I can elaborate for why this didnt resonate, at least for me.  The subject matter here isn't the problem for me, it just doesnt appear as technically proficient as the mass of your work does.  The eyes do not appear to have proper perspective.  Obscuring the wrists was also an odd choice, it makes the fingers look really out of place.  When I first saw this as a thumbnail, I thought the fingers might be part of the dress design.  The shoulders also seem to be a bit under developed, its difficult to see the anatomy there.  You'll forgive me if this is out of place but I did a little paint over to illustrate some of the problem areas fc03.deviantart.net/fs70/f/201… and just the still image fc02.deviantart.net/fs70/f/201… .  Also for some reason the version of this illustration looks much better in the videocast where you open it in photoshop, its far more blown out on dA.  You might want to double check your photoshop color setting to something more in line with whatever dA uses to get the full impact.
